If you provide advice from a script approved by, or under direct supervision of, a person who meets the RG146 / PS146 standards, it is not mandatory that you be RG146 / PS146 qualified. However, customer service representatives must have the necessary competencies to perform their functions which include a thorough understanding of the limits of the financial product advice they are permitted to give. Speak to the Compliance Manager in your current or intended financial services firm to better understand their training policy for stock brokers, call centre or front desk staff.
